Weird Criminal: Naked man tied to rock near high school

A South Lake Tahoe man is being held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail for allegedly being naked near high school property.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, three Whittell High School students reported coming across a naked man behind the school who appeared to be tied to a rock and was lying face down.

A student said they asked the man if he was really tied up, which he confirmed.

Then they asked if he needed to be untied and the man answered no.

When asked why he was naked behind the school, the deputy reported Mark said “There were buzzards flying overhead and I wanted to see what they did,” the report said.

Mark had reportedly been arrested for entering Incline Village High School's boy's locker room and disrobing.

Attorney general asks why rapist didn’t face more charges

Attorney general asks why rapist didn’t face more charges

McALESTER — Oklahoma's attorney general wants to know why a man who admitted to raping a McAlester girl did not also face charges for abusing her older brother.

Two state legislators are separately calling for the removal of the judge who oversaw the controversial plea agreement that gave David Earls just one year in jail.

Attorney General Drew Edmondson said he is disturbed by the "lenient" deal struck last month with Earls, who pleaded no contest to raping and sodomizing the girl, then 4 years old.

District Judge Tom Bartheld ordered Earls, 64, to serve one year of a 20-year sentence. He was also credited for time he's spent in jail, meaning he will be released in three months.

Police initially identified the girl's brother, who was then 5, as a possible victim. Earls also faced a charge for forcing the boy to watch as he raped the girl.

Portrait of an Asshole (oh yeah, he'll get what's coming to him)

Prison Guard Accused of Killing Wife While Police At Door

A TDCJ guard was arrested Thursday and accused of shooting and killing his estranged wife. 38-year-old Samuel Vanparys is being held in the Walker County jail on a two million dollar bond. Vanparys is charged with first degree murder in the death of 27-year-old Ellen Buffington.

"I don't think I've ever been to a homicide where a victim was shot this many times before," said Lt. Kevin Lunsford. "It was very brazen with police standing just outside the door."

"Heard about three knocks and heard 'em say Police Department, open up," said Eloy Santistevan, who lives nears Vanparys' apartment.

"He said I can't come to the door right now and immediately began firing bap bap bap bap" said Lunsford.

"I just kept hearing 'em over and over and over again," said Santistevan.

"Literally within 10-15 seconds he had emptied his pistol, shot her 10-15 times, tossed out the gun and surrendered," said Lunsford.

27-year-old Ellen Marie Buffington died minutes later at the hospital. Police said Vanparys admitted planning to kill her because of a Child Protective Services investigation involving the couple's 4-year-old daughter.

Investigators said Vanparys lured Buffington to the apartment under the pretense of discussing child support, then told her his plan.

"That she needed to call her loved ones and tell them goodbye and she did," said Lunsford.

Those calls led police to the apartment, but not in time to stop what police consider to be a deadly plan already in motion.
