Taser Used to Torture Criminal Into Giving DNA Sample -- and NY Supreme Court Approves

The New York Supreme Court approved the use of shocking a suspect with a Taser to force him to comply with a court order to give police a DNA sample.

An article by Courthouse News about the decision makes it clear the Taser -- made by a Scottsdale company -- was used like a torture instrument to force compliance. Police told the man, Ryan Smith, a suspect in a home invasion, shooting, and robbery, that he would be shocked if he didn't allow officers to swab his cheek for a sample.

When Smith refused, a cop shoved the business end of a Taser into the man's shoulder area and zapped him for four seconds. Smith then agreed to cooperate.

Gosh, it makes you wanna move to New York right away, doesn't it? When the cops want __________________ [FILL IN BLANK] from you, they can taser you for it. And you don't have to be a convicted criminal, just in temporary police custody, is all.

I can understand using deadly force in self-defense and, in the case of law enforcement, in defense of anyone's life or to stop someone from hurting themselves or others. Pretty simple, that one.

But, that's not what this story's about. Here, the cops just wanted some spit and they are now offically allowed to torture you to get it.

Cowardly Cop Who Beat Up Barmaid Heads to Court

Fox Chicago News first showed you the dramatic video of an off duty Chicago police officer beating a barmaid more than two years ago.

A security camera caught the incident at Jesse's Shortstop Inn. Anthony Abbate is charged with the beating. Karolina Obrycka is the barmaid who got the beating. She says it’s because she stopped serving him.

“It stays in your head to the end of your life. You’re not able to forget about that,” aid Obrycka.

Cook County prosecutors originally charged Abbate only with battery for his part in the February 19, 2007 beating.

When Fox Chicago News aired the tape a month later, prosecutors upped the charged to felony aggravated battery and arrested Abbate at his Northside home.

After that video tape was seen by everyone, this cop now plans to plead self-defense.

Cops Try to Arrest EMT for Taking Patient to Hospital

I surely do hope these police officers are reprimanded and fired for their extremely inappropriate behavior with the paramedic who was trying to rush a sick woman to the nearest Emergency Room. The video is shocking.

This isn't even a case of "mistaken identity" where a husband is rushing a pregnant wife to the hospital in a family car. This was an AMBULANCE driven by two paramedics IN UNIFORM and they had sirens and lights flashing.

So why did the cops pull them over? Because the cops now claim they were also in a hurry to get somewhere on the MULTI-lane highway and they'd flashed their lights, too, and ran their sirens, too, and the ambulance merely went to the right side of the road but did not completely pull over and stop because they were dealing with their own patient's emergency.

There was room for both vehicles to attend to their respective emergencies.

When the female patient in the ambulance begins to scream, the paramedic decides the patient is now being endangered by the cops' nonsense so he turns to attend to his screaming patient and that's when the cops throw him up against his ambulance and throttle the paramedic with a hand around his throat and they actually tell the paramedic he needs to "calm down." I didn't see the paramedic choking anyone.

When the cops finally realize they are being videotaped, the whole scene goes away and the paramedics are allowed back onto their ambulance and they continue on their way to the hospital. The patient was treated and released.

I would really like to see the follow-up story to this: do the goons get punished or not?
